First Friday Arts District

This popular free arts event takes place on the First Friday of every month from 5-9 pm throughout the 28 acre campus. After 10 years, it has grown into San Diego’s biggest innovative arts event! Meet working artists, enjoy dance, theatre and music performances featuring community partners and discover intriguing public art installations. Wander and explore the galleries, museums, artist studios, distinctive shops and dining at historic Liberty Station.
Fall in love with art at First Friday ARTS DISTRICT on February 7 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. This is San Diego’s most unique, fun and authentic event to find locally made art and gifts. Experience the arts with San Diego Ballet performances, San Diego Craft Collective live demos & yoga, Crystal Paris Designs artist talk, after dark Walk the Labyrinth art installation + Open Workshop, Plus enjoy new “Open Late after 8” live music at THE LOT, AND SO MUCH MORE! Visitors can start their stroll at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center – 2640 Historic Decatur Road and pick up a monthly program and District map.

LIVE DEMOS | San Diego Craft Collective hosts Yoga Storytime with Miss Amy and her handmade puppets as well as several craft artists for an open house showcasing live demonstrations covering various craft techniques. MUSIC | Recreational Music Center hosts Open Mic Night from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Come hear music students of all ages and levels perform their best pieces in Building 176 – 2590 Truxtun Rd.
DANCE | San Diego Ballet welcomes guest s to see excerpts from “Dances of Love and Laughter” to celebrate Valentine’s Weekend. ARTIST TALK | Crystal Paris Designs & Visions Art Museum presents “Back to Love”. Through all of life’s complexities, one human basic need is LOVE. This live wearable art demo probes the question of how to get back to doing the things we love, the things that spark our creativity and make us feel good. Experience Ms. Paris’s design process and explore her love of textiles and preserving and creating designs with real flowers. At Visions Art Museum from 5:00 – 8:00 in Building 202 – 2825 Dewey Rd.
Barracks 15/16 Plaza
Lauren LeVieux Artist Studio invites guests to Walk the Labyrinth then explore the artists’ studio and learn more about Labyrinths, take part in creating a community art labyrinth and learn how to draw a classical three circuit labyrinth of your own as a souvenir.
