(s)LIGHT OF HAND
October 12 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S EYE is pleased to announce our first all-California juried exhibition,
(s)LIGHT OF HAND.
This exhibition is focused on Alternative Photographic Processes. Over one hundred artworks were entered and then juried by Suda House. Suda House is a photographer of national and international reputation living and working in San Diego, California. Ms. House is a photography and art educator at Grossmont College and a Trustee of the Museum of Photographic Arts. Her choices will be on display beginning October 12 when the exhibition opens.
The thirty-one Alternative Photographic Process artworks selected include Platinum/Palladium, Tintype, Cyanotype, Anthotype and Photogravure. Also 3-D artworks, woven, and collaged works will be on view. Explanations of the various processes will be available for our viewers.
The magic of this genre of photography is reflected in our show statement:
A photograph is a sleight of hand, a magic trick of sort, conjured into being. Light is summoned and chemistry is concocted making visible both the intangible and the corporeal. It is heart and mind, imagination and craft, melding together into an experience of life-altering alchemy.
- OPENING AND RECEPTION FOR THE ARTISTS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 5-9PM
- JUROR SUDA HOUSE WILL BE ON HAND TO DISCUSS THE EXHIBITION AT 4PM ON THE 12TH
Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11-5. Gallery visits for individuals or classes are available by appointment. There is no charge to visit and there is free parking in front and behind the gallery space.
