Space 4 Art Starts Building its Permanent Home and Hosts a Sneak Peak
There are a lot of people around San Diego working hard to make their art. At the new site for Space 4 Art, there are a lot of people working hard to make a place where art can be made. On top of that, they bravely set a goal of June 2nd to give a sneak preview of their new space in Sherman Heights.
With the help of students from High-Tech High, Chula Vista and King Chavez High School, and a dedicated bunch of volunteers, it is full steam ahead to make that goal. I travelled to the site to see how things were progressing and was impressed by how much they have been able to accomplish. Volunteers were out on the Memorial Day holiday keeping the progress going to make the deadline for this Saturday’s event.
I have heard many times how everyone who is working on the project shows up ready to work, especially the students. This NBC 7 San Diego spot gives a short glimpse into the story of the project. Additionally, Kinsee Morlan mentioned the new construction in this week’s VOSD Culture Report.
The June the 2nd sneak preview will feature art by photographer Paul Koester and sculptor Robert Michael Jones and live music by the Warren Woodwinds Trio, Jay james, and DJ Lydon Quill. There will also be a Tacos and a cash bar with proceeds going to support Space 4 Art.
